Have you heard people saying that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is going to put us all out of work?
Have you heard the sceptics say robots will replace us in the workplace?
Well, that is not going to happen.
There is too much going on in the world which needs real people to make it work.
A lot of that work is of a technical nature.
We cannot make things work without technical people.
In this introduction, the focus is on providing readers with a broad understanding of various technical industries, terminology, and the foundational knowledge needed to navigate the technical job market.
There are careers out there, about which you have not even heard. These careers don't need a University qualification, make good money and have tremendous growth possibilities.
We begin with an overview of the technically inclined work place.
Some of the terminology might sound a bit strange, but it will all make sense as you begin to fit the pieces of the puzzle together.
Discover potential career paths by exploring our micro-learning courses.
Once you identify a topic that interests you, choose the corresponding module.
Each microlearning module is crafted to be completed in under five minutes, allowing you to build your knowledge at your own pace.
Soon, you’ll be able to engage in conversations with technical professionals and unlock new opportunities.
There are many different technically oriented careers. You have only to walk into a house and many of these careers are immediately visible. Bricklayers, painters, cupboard installers, carpenters, electricians and plumbers and these are the ones we see every day. What about an airport? From pilots and cabin crew to ground crew, fuel technicians, tyre technicians, avionics and radio technicians, firefighters and other emergency services. All of these jobs are rooted in technical know-how. We will explore a few aspects of the technical environment — though it remains far too large and complex for any single approach to fully capture, because it is ultimately driven by human skill and experience.
